Packing list
Tokyo in October — what to pack
October is one of the most pleasant months in Tokyo: comfortable days, cool evenings, and fall colour starting in parks. Light rain is possible — a compact umbrella and layers will keep you comfortable from morning trains to late-night ramen runs.

Autumn in Tokyo: pack for the season and check short-term weather.
Rainy early summer; crisp dry winter.
- Layer clothing so you can adapt between morning and evening.
- Comfortable shoes matter for full days out.
- Keep a light packable layer even in warm months for AC and evenings.
Before you pack
Tokyo rewards minimal, versatile clothing: neutral layers, one smarter outfit if you plan upscale dining, and shoes you can walk 15k steps in. Temples and some traditional venues appreciate modest coverage — a light scarf helps.
Convenience stores and transit are excellent; an IC card (Suica/PASMO) or mobile wallet speeds up trains. Cash is still useful at smaller spots.
