Packing list

Rome in June — what to pack

June in Rome is warm and sunny with long days — perfect for ruins, trattorias, and evening strolls. Sun protection and breathable fabrics matter; many churches ask for covered shoulders and knees, so pack a light layer you can slip on.

Summer in Rome: pack for the season and check short-term weather.

Hot dry summers; mild wet winters.

  • Layer clothing so you can adapt between morning and evening.
  • Comfortable shoes matter for full days out.
  • Keep a light packable layer even in warm months for AC and evenings.

Before you pack

Cobblestones and hills mean supportive shoes — save thin sandals for dinner only. Midday heat is real: schedule indoor or slow hours, carry water, and use sunscreen.

A small crossbody or secure daypack helps on busy buses and at sites. Keep a few coins and small notes for tickets and cafés.
